Paws for a Cause Appeal

SCARS cares for and rehomes over 1000 cats and dogs each year. Here are some of our current residents including many who have been with us for over 100 days.

Help us keep our furry rescue friends safe.

Each year our Paws for a Cause Long Lunch helps raise vital funds to support the cats and dogs in our care. Even if you did not attend our lunch on Saturday 18 May, you can still make a donation to the cause. Donations can be directed towards general care of our rescue animals or specifically to fund our current project. This year we are raising funds to help replace the perimeter fencing of the Refuge. We have a 1.08 hectare site to fence.

After 45 years our perimeter fencing has endured damage from fallen trees, attempted break-ins and has simply aged over time. It may not be the most glamourous thing to help fund, but fencing at an animal refuge is critical. We think of it as the arms we wrap around our cats and dogs to keep them safe.

After 45 years SCARS perimeter fencing has endured damage from fallen trees, attempted break-ins and has simply aged over time.

SCARS cares for and rehomes approximately 1000 rescue animals each year and we simply could not do so without the support of our incredible community. Aside from some generous grants from the Sunshine Coast Council, SCARS does not receive ongoing government funding and relies heavily on benevolence.

Donations of $2 or more made before 30 June 2024 can be claimed on this financial year’s taxes. Should you consider making a gift to SCARS this FY we would be very grateful.
